I had my phone for a month and now today it stop charging. I checked the charging cord the connections in the charger nothing had changed from the day before. I kept playing around with it and found out that it would only charge when the phone was turned on the off position. Now the phone is off and charging albeit slower. Is anyone else had this happen?

Welcome to Android Central! Is this when the phone is plugged into a wall outlet, or into a computer USB port? Do you see a lightning bolt inside the battery icon in the status bar? Are you using the phone fairly heavily while charging?

Plugged into a charger, failed, battery, failed, computer USB charging port, failed, all while phone on. With phone off charges. Yes saw lightning bolt inside ring while charging while shut off. Not using phone at all while charging it's turned off. As soon as I turn it back on it stoops charging while still plugged into power.

I'm going to contact Samsung from whom I purchased it and ask for a replacement. If it charges while asleep the charging port is working fine hardware OK. Any other suggestions or has anyone else had this issue?

Sorry, wasn't able to get back to this question for a little bit. Have you already tried different charging cables/plugs?

Tried different cables and chargers, why would it matter? If the charging works while turned off with charger A and cable A if it does not work with charger A and cable A while on??????

Since the phone should still be under warranty, you may just have to contact Samsung (or bring the phone back to the store where you bought it). Sorry, but I don't have any other ideas -- good luck!

I mistakenly purchased it from Samsung. Only thing they offer is return shipping, not overnight return and send in for repairs. I will be without a phone for 14 days as a doctor/surgeon unacceptable. Otherwise find a Samsung store and deal with it there. Not many of them. Best buy will send it back for me, per Samsung. Phone only 1 month old. I would recommend never purchasing from Samsung unless you can be without for 14 days.:'(

Ugh, I agree -- that's a real hassle.:-\ It's a good reason to have a backup phone -- either some old phone you never use any more, or some cheap phone, perhaps refurbished from a site like Groupon Goods or DailySteals.com.

You could try going to a Best Buy that has a Samsung Experience store inside. Those guys could run other tests to see if it can be fixed. Perhaps they can reflash it for you. The fact that it does charge is really odd and suggestive that the usb port may be ok.

Any idea what the issue is or fix? I have an S9 that's doing the exact same thing. Just started doing it a few days ago.

Samsung from whom it was purchased only offered send in regular shipping and they'll inspect fix send back total time 10 days. I contacted Verizon who offer to replace the phone next day delivery. It can't be fixed, I recommend returning it.
