Galaxy S9 - Why does my photo appear as a green rectangle?

I took a photo of my daughter and her friend this morning. In camera mode, I saw the little circular preview of the photo, but when I tapped it to open it up, all I got was a green rectangle. I can't find the photo anywhere. It's not in my gallery - the green rectangle is. Any chance I can recover the photo?

Check in your gallery trash bin , while in gallery3 dots right top then Trash check in there

So when you open your gallery this is a you see ?

Long press gallery >app info >clear data>clear cache >force stop
Make sure you have Samsung cloud on and sync to your gallery so dont lose anything

That green box is the thumbnail and photo for that moment I attempted to capture.

That wouldn't make the photo reappear though, would it? A photo I took later appears just fine.
