Galaxy SIII software Crash

Hello,

i found my Samsung galaxy S3 showing message "Failed update. Connect to Samsung Kies and try again"(or something simmilar) out of nowhere and I was unable to use my phone at all. So i tried connecting it to Kies, but it would say "connecting" for however long I could manage to wait. Then I tried putting a new Android 4.2.2 into my samsung device, using Odin3, but it failed. I assume it did so, cause I couldn't put my phone into USB Debugging mode in the first place. Now the phone would only show a blurry white screen, when I turn it on. I can turn it on in download mode using Vol-, Home, Power On buttons, but that's about it. I'm quite sure it's a software problem. Could anyone suggest an option? Thanks!

Hello! well, let's see what we can do for you. You're doing all of the right things but please don't mess with the phone unless you follow these instructions. The white sceen issue means you're getting closer to hard-bricking the phone (and we don't want that). Now, since this is a fairly routine procedure, there are many guides available. I'm giving you a link to a trusted android guy over on youtube named wwjoshdew. This video will show you how to get back to stock with the correct verified files. I'm guessing you either messed up something in the process of using odin or you had a bad stock image. WHOOPS, YOUTUBE IS DOWN FOR SOME REASON. I will provide the link when it comes available again. For now, here is a trusted guide here

Hey,
thanks for the response. Here's what my phone were showing before the white screen apeared "Firmware upgrade ecountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again".

It is a routine thing to use Odin to reinstall android, but everywhere it specifies that USB debugging must be on, and i can't turn it on as i can't really do anything with the phone. Should i try to reinstall android using Odin with usb debugging off? Also could you provide the link to the youtube video that you mentioned earlyer? I'm from Lithuania, and i have downloaded an international firmware version uder UK region, couse LT region is not an option :-D Thanks again.

I'm happy to update the link, but I need to make sure you have the phone model I think you do. You posted this under AT&T Galaxy s3 ROMs, rooting, and hacks. Therefore, I assume you have an sgh i747 model of the galaxy s3. If this isn't the case, these guides won't work for your phone because they don't provide the right firmware. If you do have the sgh i747 and you flashed an international version of the firmware (you explained you downloaded the international version firmware), that could explain the white screen. Please, don't flash anything until I know the proper model number. The last thing I want is for you to brick your phone by accident.

For USB debugging, it's recommend that it's turned on. I've flashed to stock before with it turned off, so it doesn't really matter. It usually just helps the process run smoothly.

I have Galaxy S3 I9300GSMH 16GB, whitch i guess is an international version of the phone.

Alright, that's good to know. Definitely don't use that guide I gave you then. You have a specific firmware version you need. I'm going to try to find it for you now.

UPDATE: so here's what I found. This is the best guide available and it has the files for your country code. It's a little confusing, so if you have any questions feel free to ask. Here is the link to the XDA guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1671969

Though, when i first got this error http://i.imgur.com/37KIkFu.jpg out of the blue, and tried to "Odin" a new version of android into my phone i may have used not an international firmware version file. I guess this may be causing the white screen error. I really hope there's a way out :-)

It still doesn't specify which firmware to download for Lithuanian users. It says that XE goes for Lithuania among some other countries in the "Samsung Letter Code", but i can't manage to find which file to download.

Re: Galaxy S3 software Crash

So I tried with the one that sayd Omnitel provider, and I get an immediate fail
<ID:0/004> SetupConnection..
<ID:0/004> Initialzation..
<ID:0/004> Get PIT for mapping..
<ID:0/004>
<ID:0/004> There is no PIT partition.
<OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 1)

only Auto Reboot and F. Reset Time is checken in Odin.

I see now that it makes no difference which firmware file I use, it still shows the same fail righ away.

Yeah..... That's a problem. Without a pit, you're absolutely screwed. There are pit files available, but finding the one for your device might be hard. Just for future reference, when you boot into download mode does it say any custom installs? It should say 0 or none

ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME:
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
Damn, that's an issue. Your phone is almost a brick. It knows basics, but it seems anything system related might be screwed. Okay, let's see what we can do. I'm going to try and find you a pit. In the meantime, which stock file did you flash it with when the white screen happened? Was it rooted at the time? Was it running a custom rom? I'm guessing it was stock, but I always have to ask

I really hate international devices. I found a few pit files, but I'm having a hard time narrowing down which one to use for your specific region. There's another thing I'm really worried about. Even if we can get it back up and running, I think your phone may have lost some important files. I'm guessing your efs is gone along with a lot of other important files. Is your phone under warranty?

I have a couple of these file in my PC now but i'm quite sure that when white sreen first apeared I flashed I9300XXUFME3_I9300OJKFME1_HOME.tar.md5 without .pit file and re-partition unchecked. I think it was not rooted, couse i pimply pluged in the phone in download mode and clicked start in Odin.
