So two people at my work ended up getting the SIII. They ate on different services, Verizon and Sprint. The guy on Sprint said that the phone wasn't any good and thatis worse than his o.g. S. And the guy on Verizon said the signal is really shotty.

Can't say I didn't warn them from the beginning.

It did get pushed back but people have already received their S3 from preorders supposedly.

No preorders do work folks, I have activated a handful of them since Friday. Pre orders can go live as long as the device is in our system, which it has been for a short while.

Phone is beautiful and just from the 30 mins I was able to walk through the device throughly with a customer last night I might actually move from my Rezound to the S III if ICS is not here by last week of July.

Best part was as I was unboxing the phone I had 2-3 other families in the store come up an ask what this phone was just from taking it out of the box lol. Very sexy phone and so incredibly fast with amazing build quality I see it selling a ton in the US even if it does not have the Quad core Korea got and sold 50k+ in 1st day of sales.

You mean the supposed preorders that supposedly won't work? lol

It does work. There may be a few limited issues with activation, but by an large, almost everyone has been able to activate it.

Hmm that's interesting. I perused the s3 forums a couple of days ago and no mass service issues as of then. I looked into the gnex issues and apparently they are attributed to the fact that Samsung used their own radio instead of qualcom's. The did a terrible job of integrating apparently. They went with the stock radio on the s3 supposedly so we will see.

It will take more than this phone being a success before I'll touch a Samsung with a 10 pole though. I still have not touched one that is worth the cheap plastic it is cased in. Maybe that will change

Didn't the Verizon SIII just get pushed back to the end of this week?

I'm just going by what dude said. I am on the same line with the guy with the Sprint one. And actually messed with the one he has.

yes, the gs3 uses the same chip as the dinc 4glte, and a better version than what is in the Rezound. the s4 has all radios on board including lte. the s3 does not have lte radio on board so htc had to put in a separate lte radio into the rezound. the s4 is also 28nm, while the s3 is 45nm

I stand corrected. Not that it would be the first time I was wrong...back to the SGSIII, still sounds like a great phone but I'd love to know what benefits it offers over the cheaper(and more open) Gnex. Can you do a side by side iLLusive?

Yeah I can when I work tomorrow and gladly will. Should even be able to do it via video not just posting stats, but i'll see how busy I get during the day. Here is spec list on the s III directly from Samsung to get you bit more information - Specs - Verizon Wireless Cell Phones SCH-I535 | Samsung Cell Phones

Off top my head major differences are these
  • S III | Gnex
  • 8mp Camera | 5mp Camera
  • 1.9 FFC | 1.3 FFC
  • 2100mah Battery | 1850mah Battery
  • Removal memory | Not removal memory
  • 4.8" HD Super AMOLED | 4.65" HD Super AMOLED
  • 1.5ghz Dual Core | 1.3 ghz Dual Core
  • 2gig Memory | 1gig Memory

About all I got and I know S III weighs about half an oz less and I might be incorrect but I believe only the S III has the burst camera feature that is using One X camera software, which also allows to shot still images while recording video. Processor on S III is Snapdragon s4 while Gnex is TI OMAP4460. Anyways other minor differences those are things I can remember from looking at specs in detail to weigh if I want to move from Rezound to the S III

I know my GNex has the same record -> take a pic in JB. But it's good to know that it's there on the SGSIII already

Imo, the biggest benefit to me is the better radio in the gs3 over the gnex. In my usage i think the s3 radio is close to my rezound.

I purchased a Galaxy SIII for my wife and received it last week. Activation had a few hiccups, but I was able to activate it(upgrade from 3g device) and keep unlimited data. I travelled from KC to Colorado Springs and back over the weekend and my Rezound continually had a signal in places that the SIII did not. I also picked up earlier and held longer onto a 4G signal when it was available. All things considered I am still happy with my Rezound over her Galaxy SIII.

I looked in the Verizon store today for the off chance they had an s3 out. They didn't, but but they did have an incredible out and I must say that the thing ran flawlessly. Other than that I don't think that they had any htc phones at all though...

I received my pre-ordered S3 yesterday. After 1.5 days of usage (and many comparative speed tests), the data signal on the S3 appears to be somewhere between the Nexus (which I had for 1 week before trading it in due to its horrible signal) and Rezound (which I still have as my backup). The S3 speed tests have been, on average, about 60% of what I was getting on the Rezound in the same places, but still "good enough." It also appears to bounce between 3G and 4G a lot more in fringe areas (i.e. my house and office) - the weird thing is that this usually happens only when I'm holding/handling the device. When I set it down, it holds 4G signal much more consistently. I wonder if antenna design is causing this behavior somehow.

So far it has passed test #1: maintaining steady 4G signal at the office (while sitting on the desk) to allow me to listen to streaming media. Tomorrow will be the next test: I have 5 hours of conference calls from home, and I'll be counting the dropped calls and taking note of the quality.

One of the best differences I've noticed between the devices thus far (besides OOTB ICS and the beautiful screen) is the battery life: today (on only the second full charge) I was off the charger for almost 12 hours, and during this time, I ran youtube videos for 3+ hours and TuneIn for 45 minutes before the battery hit critical. I would never have dreamed of being able to achieve this on the Rezound stock battery.

iirc, the gnex has a 45nm 1.2ghz processor with separate radios. the s3 has a 28nm s4 1.5ghz with radios onboard.
