Galaxy Tab 10.1 Hands-on From the Perspective of an Iconia Owner

Re: Galaxy Tab 10.1 Hands-on From the Perspective of an Iconia Ow

I had a chance to play with the 10.1 and i have to admit the display is very nice, but it isnt a dealbreaker for me. The USB port (sans adapter, seems like an Apple-ish move to me), SD slot, and custom ROMs galore put the Iconia ahead for me.

The Galaxy Tab is definitely a great device, dont get me wrong, but I havent found anything that would compel me to part with my Iconia. :-)

To each his own! For me, the ease of moving stuff between my pc and tab made external storage irrelevant, and the 16gb just fine. The screen is the most important feature of a tab, and I just cant see how Acer droped the ball so badly on that. In agree, it's not terrible unless you compare the devices side by side, unfortunately I did.

I agree, screen is very important, though I do like the extra storage options and the ability to use a PS3 controller for my emulators.

To be honest, had the Galaxy Tab been available when I purchased my Iconia probably would have picked it up instead. I'd recommend it to anyone in the market for a tablet simply because i think its the best all around package featurewise and it will have less growing pains than the Iconia. I wouldnt call the Iconia display bad, per se, but the Galaxy Tab is definitely a class ahead. If the bootloader was still locked I probably would have sold mine to pick one up.

Its good that we have options, which is something that cant be said for our fruit-based competitor. :-)
