Galaxy tab 2 10.1 microphone problems.

Hi, I got my new tab 2 10.1 yesterday and I just cannot get the microphone to work, I have tried it with Skype, assistant and voice recorder, I have even tried using a noise meter to see if it was working but no joy. I have looked on every forum I can think of and have spent ages on Google trying to find a solution, you guys are my last hope before I take the thing back to the store. Thanks in advance.
