So obviously this tablet is a bit old however in great shape. I've looked at rooting and flashing on YouTube and I'm sure I can do it with a bit of help in the procedure. Can anyone walk me through this?

Welcome to Android Central! To be honest, the best place to look is the forums at XDA-Developers.com. For a tablet that old, you probably won't find a custom ROM much higher than what you have already, but I guess it's still worth checking if you feel adventurous. Good luck!

BTW, I moved this to the Tab 3 Rooting/ROMs forum for more specific traffic.

I found the Samsung mini-USB OTG cable to PC yesterday. Hooked it up to the PC. Then launched Kies. Immediately Kies came back and stated there is an OS update to KitKat. Wow, who would of thought a 10 year old device would still have this available.

Reading on the XDA site, it is best to have a 32Gb microSD card in the Tab 3 and to do the update from the card. This helps prevent boot-looping and bricking. And the microSD card has to be a class 4 or 10 and U1. PNY and Lexar brands are trusted to work. So I order the Lexar.

At this time, I don't have any personal stuff on the device, so it would be a reload of the apps I had grabbed that run fast and offer the best features and functions.
