Galaxy Tab S2 8.0, Uneven Screen Colours & Overheating Charger

Hi All,

I am having a few strange issues with my Galaxy Tab S2 8.0". First of all, when open on a gray screen - there is a very visible difference between the left third of the screen (darker) and the two thirds on the right (lighter). It's as if a line is drawn from the top of the tablet to the bottom, in which the screen estate to the left is darker than that to the right.

Image example: snag.gy/n4MmE.jpg

The second issue is that whilst charging, the piece of cable that goes into the tablet gets properly hot. As in, almost to the point where it burns to touch. The tablet itself doesn't heat up - it's just the cable. Is this relatively normal, or should I send it in?

Just want to make sure I don't send in a tablet thats pretty similar to every other one out there

Thanks,
Rhys

Hello Rhys.

If I were you and just got the tablet, I would exchange it right away. The display issue could be hardware.
Now about the cable, it could be that the cable itself it's faulty. Have you tried charging the tablet with a different cable or wall charger?

I have the uneven screen tones as well. Every Samsung device has this problem. Just exchange it until you get one that doesn't bother you. After years of this issue being present, they should be able to find a way to avoid it.

The cable heating up is simply because samsung cheaped out on the usb cable and went with a thin guage wire. Switch the usb cabe for a thicker guage and the heat build up in the connector and that section of wire goes away. Thicker wire means less resistance which in turn means less heat build up.

Hi All,

Thanks for the responses! Was away so only got back to my PC this morning.

Ive been hesitant to swop it out - as its out of its 7 day buyers-warrenty or whatever its called. Basically they have to take it away for 30 days and attempt 'repairs'. The issue with the screen is hardly evident, and I was just concerned that it was the start of bigger issues. It really doesnt bother me that much haha, so to send it away to be opened (and possibly worsened) doesnt sit well with me.

I thought as much about the cable. I was hoping it was something like that as opposed to an issue with the tablet. Thanks for confirming!

Rhys

Anyone who has a heating problem, if you also have any Microsoft Exchanes Accts like live.com or outlook.com email acct s incorrect servers can cause havoc if you use the wrong servers.
