Greetings every one. New user here. If this has been discussed before, please excuse my repeat, but bear with me, or kindly point me to the right forum.
I got a Galaxy watch 5 PRO. For the last 2 weeks I am trying to find a carrier be it ATT, Verizon or TMO, that would activate a watch as stand alone.
Basically no line on that account so it will not be number shared. So far I was told a lot of bs, especially from TMO who even activated my account, just to find out that ... after a week of technical "glitches" that it is not possible to have a stand alone watch, IF that watch is a Samsung. Apple, it is ok, no problems.
Verizon told me outright that they do not do stand alone Samsung ( also mentioned that Apple is ok ), and ATT, was trying to sell me a phone and a new watch :) - of course, not stand alone.
Long story short, I contacted Samsung "tech support" and they told me that I can't do it with a 5, but if I buy now a 6....yes !!! no problems. When I asked them which carrier would do that , and if they know of any, they offered me a discount for the new 6 watch.
My questions are: (1) does any one have a watch ONLY , with no other phone line on the account, and it is working, (2) is it even possible to have a Samsung as standalone ? Seems that all the big 3 hate Samsung ( well, for that matter any android watch ). Thank you in advance for your time and help.
