Galaxy Watch - My BP app compatibility

I've got a Galaxy Watch that I purchased a few months ago. Since then I've noticed Samsung advertising their new Galaxy Watch Active with the capability to measure blood pressure via the MY BP app. I have this app on my S9 and have been using it regularly. They had an update to version 2 today and after going through the sign up process and other rigamarole involved, I was offered the option to install the app on my Galaxy Watch. I selected yes and received an error message that said the app was not available much to my chagrin.
My question is; is Samsung going the make the BP functionality available to the previous generation of Galaxy Watch? Anyone?
Thanks!

I don't think Samsung are living up to their promise for BP monitoring on the Active, let alone the Galaxy Watch...

In any case the Active does have a PPG sensor which the Galaxy Watch does not...

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Active has an optical photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor located on the rear of the device close to the heart rate sensor which detects blood volume changes in the microvascular bed of tissue.

So even if Samsung get their act together and update the Active's software (not their strongest suit), it won't be available on the Galaxy Watch.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the additional sensor. Getting the error led me to think it might be available on my older model.
I'll continue to use the My BP app on my S9.

No worries. I'm not completely 100% about the Galaxy Watch not having PPG but I've never seen it mentioned anywhere or in any specs lists, so I'm fairly certain it doesn't have one.

Try downloading the watch and mobile app and see if they work, both are available in the Galaxy Store under the name "My BP Lab 2.0"
