Galaxy watch not sending sms on Oppo

I recently bought a samsung galaxy watch and i have an Oppo phone. When i go to send a sms from the watch it brings up a popup on the screen asking if i want to send the sms from the galaxy watch plug-in or to cancel. (Plus the cancel has a timedown to cancel automatically). I have checked all the permissions and they all allow text messages. I use the default messaging app on the phone if that helps. Also dont think i can download the samsung messages app to use.
