Hi there, 1st post, been a visitor before but signed up as I’ve a question I cant see asked before.

My kids have mobiles, oldest with a payg sim younger just uses WiFi at home or tags onto one of our hotspots when out, we have a galaxy watch cellular 42mm, from Santa.

My question/questions are to allow the watch to be used without the phone being within BT range do we need an esim for the watch? Or can I get a payg sim for the phone and link to that?

Thanks

Neither - you link to the phone - the phone links to the carrier. (The watch should be able to do WiFi alone.)

If you want to use the watch when it's not within Bluetooth range of the phone, you could get the carrier to use the eSIM (or issue you a physical SIM card - that depends on the carrier), but most carriers would require that the watch have its own account.

I’d prefer the watch to be able to be useable without the mobile being close, so might just need to get a separate acc.

Thanks for your reply
