Gallery/File question

Hi All,
Just got the Galaxy S5 and wondering if there is a way to save video and pic files that won't show up in the gallery? I had an old android phone that let me move the gallery file to another file that did not get populated to the gallery.

Welcome to Android Central! You could use a file manager app to move your downloaded photo or video to another folder of your choice, and then use that file manager to create a blank file called ".nomedia" in that folder. Make sure there is a period in front of nomedia. This will tell the system's Media Scanner to ignore that folder when looking for media to populate the gallery.
