I changed SMS programs to Handscent, but the shortcut in the gallery still takes me to the default messaging app. Is there a way to change the quick send shortcut at the top to the new app?

I don't understand the issue you're having. Are you trying to share a picture? I tried it with the gallery (I use quick pic btw) and after I use handcent once, the icon was there the next time.

I was trying to make it the default icon up top right next to the share one. There is the share icon, the messaging icon (default messaging app), a play icon for slideshow and the delete icon. If I click on the share Handscent does show up, but it would be nice to change the default up top.
try going to settings, app manager, all, find default messanger and tap "clear defaults" then the next time it should ask you what sms app u wana use, just tick the box and tap handcent
