Game of the month advertisement?

It seems that I occasionally get a little icon in the upper notification bar for some game of the month. If I drag it down to look at it, and then click on it, it takes me to the play store in case I want to download it.

Is this a normal thing from google, or is it coming from some app I installed? Is there anyway to disable it?

I think you're probably getting that from an app you downloaded. Grab AirPush Detector from the Play Store, run it, and it should tell you which app is causing it. Then you can decide whether you want to uninstall the offending app.
