I currently have PlayStation, SNES and NES emulators on my G3. I am wanting to get a controller for my phone that I can use to play the games on all of these emulators. What are my best options?

I made one that out of two Wii controllers and a phone car mount. Works really good. I will get some pics of it when I get home. It was cheap to build and has the best button response.

Only problem is Wiimote app does not work on KitKat anymore. I used Wiimotes untill KitKat also.

Gamestop's Red Samurai is an absolute bargain right now: Tablet Wireless Game Controller V2 for Android | GameStop

I'm sorry I can only test on a Nexus 7 but it's worked for gameboy and snes emulators flawlessly. Probably gonna be a hit and miss with actual android games though.

That controller looks awesome but not the portable solution I wanted. I mean think of that controller being used while your out and about whats going to hold your device? With the Gametel it holds your phone for you so you can use it like a real PSP or gameboy.

I may try a PlayStation 3 controller. If your phone is rooted this can be done wirelessly with the controller, or if your phone isn't rooted (mine isn't) then you can still use it BUT just with the USB and OTG cables connected from your phone to the controller. I like the PlayStation controllers and am use to them. Hopefully there's no reason this won't work on a G3.

Root not needed.

I have to say I am impressed with this little thing. It is just a tad smaller than the NES controller. Has a sturdy feel no squeaking or creaking. There is no flex to it when twisting at it. The phone clip thingy holds secure with soft rubber flaps. Holds my Galaxy Nexus fine and can hold up to a 72mm(2.83 inch) wide device. Firmware upgrade was easy and smooth. Paired to my G-Nex, Moto X, and PC. Still have to try my TF-101 and LG G-Pad 8.3 tomorrow. Have not tried any Android games but did test NESoid, SNESoid, FPse, GameBoid, and Gensoid on my G-Nex running CM11 without any problems. Just had to bind the buttons but the D-pad was fine with the presets.

The Gametel app can disable the volume button if it is in the way or wakelock the screen for you if you want. Don't bother pairing it to your phone first the app will handle that.

If anyone wants some pictures close-ups or otherwise posted I can do that but with the youtube videos already out I didn't bother yet. I was too busy playing games :)

Yeah sorry I guess the G3 is 74.6mm wide to be exact. Too bad because this thing is awesome. I am making an adapter so it can be used with my LG G-Pad 8.3 tablet.
Yeah.. So that controller doesn't work with the G3? :( I was getting excited.

It could be modded fairly easily. The two screws in the picture could be moved 3mm-4mm allowing for 75mm-76mm wide devices. I would use a drill or dremel to make the holes. But since the end piece is not spring loaded there is no worry of breaking the tension system. The piece with the slides is spring loaded. Just an idea if you can't find something that does fit without spending too much.

Can't go wrong with a Moga. I have a Hero Power and a Pro Power, working great. Just use them in HID mode for emulators that don't support native mode.

I decided on using a PS3 controller. I've been playing Twisted Metal 2 today and it works great.

My only problem is setting up my controls on the NES & SNES emulators. For PlayStation games the controller is flawless....on old NES games, like Mega Man for example, I can only use my directional pads. When I try to shoot etc I just get asked if I want to exit the Game. Anyone with knowledge on issues like this?

Get the moga pocket for under $20 on eBay or amazon. Once you get the controller, get an app call "universal driver" which allows you to map the moga controller with the virtual keyboard. It works flawlessly with the Nintendo emulators.

I finally found how to configure the buttons on the NES & SNES emulators on the PS3 controller. Had to keep digging through the options...was a bit hard to find but all is working perfect now.
