Gapless playback

Thinking of switching from my iPhone 6s to a Pixel 2 so I can use Waze in my new car with Android Auto.

I've been looking for an answer to a question I have about migrating my music from iTunes to a new Android phone. It's about gapless playback of some of my playlists.

I've used professional radio station software over the years to create some of my playlists. I mix in some of my jingle collection to countdowns from specific years for example.

When I uploaded a test playlist to Google Play Music, my playlist plays with a gap between songs destroying my homemade mix.

Because this is important enough for me to be a deal breaker - is there a way of using a Pixel 2 to preserve my mix? And I'm not talking about using a player's crossfade function - I want it to preserve my mix with the same timing I created for the mix.

Another way to ask this is will it preserve a live album, or side two of Abby Road, for example - where all of the songs mix together.

Can that be done with Android like it's done perfectly with iTunes?

The basic music player apps don't support that, but a 3rd party app like Poweramp should be able to handle that (I know that PowerAmp supports gapless playback, BUT I'm not sure it supports custom time playlists or even importing from iTunes or the app/program you used for your custom playlists). They do offer a trial version so no need to shell out the 4 bucks right away to test if it fits your needs.

Thanks for the quick reply. Bit of a catch 22 in that I can't try it until I buy the Pixel. Might work on my old Nexus 7 though - I'll give it a try.

The one negative I'm finding about Poweramp is that it's not an Android Auto app. Everything else I've read is very positive for sure.

Very few apps are AA compatible.

I just spent some time cleaning up and had music streaming on my Chromecast Audio using Google Play Music. One of the "albums" I listened to was a concert I recorded off a Blu-Ray then split to different tracks. It played SEAMLESSLY.

And? It's a GREAT concert and I wanted to be able to listen anywhere rather than being tied to my TV to watch it from my legit Blu-ray but I don't think there was a way to buy just the audio. It's not like I did it and posted it online for all to grab. I only shared it with my brother (who also has a legit version of the Blu-Ray so the only thing he saved was the time and effort to get good audio).

I was just harassing you; you appear to be a pretty respected member here. I guess I should have tagged it with LOL or some other emoticon to make it clear I was joshing with you.
