Gave Up the Genx

I have "System Tutorial" on my phone under "About Phone" and it makes my settings crash too, just in case you were wondering. Wouldn't worry about it though if you already know how to use the phone

Same here on 4.0.2

Hollyday did you have Verizon port your number over from sprint?

It has to be the defected unit. It happened to me too. I received my GN and box was already opened. Someone already put the sim card in my phone. And plastic cover was already off. Obviously it was either used one or returned one or refurbished unit. I was so angry and I called Verizon right away, they promised me to resend the new unit and meanwhile they told me to just use GN I just received. Which I did, I activated the phone and I used to 3 days. During that time, I have witnessed at least network drop on every 30 min. And I checked out my battery life detail, I was so surprised to find Phone idle, I had 40+% time without reception. It really eat up my battery life as well.

I was extremely nervous about the new unit because I had no idea if I got the lemon or it was just GN problem. When I got my new GN, it was just so amazing. Speed on LTE just blow my mind away. Download speed is actually faster than my Time Warner cable speed at home. Not one single network drop. I am extremely happy about my GN.

Hollyday, congratulations on the new phone. There are definitely pluses to your choice of phones. At least if there is a significant problem with you are only weeks away from the release of a "newer and better" HTC phone being released. :-)

I'm going to take mine back today, bought it at Costco and I've tried to exchange it 3 times and they never have any in stock. Today they said they have 9, so hopefully by the time I get off work they still have a few. Mine can't hold a connection to save its life. I'll go from full 4g to nothing for 5 to 30 minutes at a time, it will not connect to 3g during this time. All while the phone has not moved one bit, it sits on my desk at work and does this all day. I love the phone and wish to keep it if I can get a working model.

Mine was a brand new Gnex, opened right in front of me, though. But, yes, it could have been a defective unit, I suppose.

You mean the rumoured quad-core HTC? But my understanding is even if I have a bad phone, they will only trade it for the same, not a different model, no?

I had the same issue(s). Good luck - hope you get a great one!

Stranger things have happened.

While you were to watch them open the box, you were not present when the phone and it's a components were being manufactured, or shipped. ;-)

Haha, if only! Then I'd make sure they picked the "freshest" components. :D

No, it is more of a reference to how HTC and Motorola are cranking new phones out like Hershey cranks out chocolate bars.

But I read HTC wants to have a flagship phone in 2012 and cut back on too many models to put out quality vs. quantity. If I find the link, I'll post it here.

I'll believe it when it happens. Motorola made the same claim and now there are rumors about yet another RAZR.
