GB status bar icons & gmail sync

I recently updated to GB, and like many apparently have issues with gmail synching. I deleted and set up my gmail acct on my phone but it looks like my account is still not synching. I have gone into preferences and allowed background sync on all files and still have to manually download my mail. Also, I have heard that if the "3g"symbol is not green with GB then I am not"linked" with google. Is this true and what exactly does it mean?

In regards to gmail, I am not sure this will help but i had to put an auto sync widget on one of my home screens to force syncing so I won't have to manually push. My problem was that the check boxes for the sync options in settings were missing. If thats your issue, then you can put the stock power control widget on one of your screens turning on auto sync or an auto sync widget from market.

The only thing I use GMail for is receiving receipts for App Market purchases, and they come in immediately here, even before the application starts to download. Both before and after updating my X to GB.

As to the connection icon color... green? Mine are either white or blue. All white when booting, and 3G and WiFi are white when starting then switch to blue. I have no idea what the colors mean.

Colors show whether or not you are sync'd with google services. This includes google app engine stuff (chrome to phone, texter, etc), account sync, market-within-market stuff (fancy/beautiful widgets skin markets). White = not connected, blue = connected.

My problem is, on certain wifi networks (usually those that are PSK2, but i've had it happen on open networks as well) as soon as i switch to wifi, my icons go white (sync is lost) and will not return to blue while on wifi. I have internet access in the browser and market, but none of the things i listed above will work. This started happening after i flashed GB for the first time many moons ago, and has persisted all the way up through the stock deodexed .596 i'm running right now.

Ok, so the colored icons only mean that I have connectivity to Google's services but the rest of my stuff will work (GasBuddy, web browsing, non-Gmail email, etc). Thanks.
