So Verizon tells us.

Got the fix this afternoon All is fine but I still like the visual voice mail Verizon gave me for a month's use.
I am going to continue with it. Really is cool

Seems like most people on this forum are getting just the 14mb update fix, are any of the people still on Froyo getting an update yet?

I got the recent that was pulled. I got this one also, but it was 97MB.

Got the 14 MB update yesterday (manual check). Voicemail issue fixed. Didn't reset my wallpaper this time. Did reset my theme. Now I will try to check out some of the non-root themes. Not sure if the ringtone issue is fixed.

Also since the pulled update, no Sense crashes when checking the battery widget.

I didn't seem to have any better battery life on the pulled GB update, but went with an extended battery, and the behavior and life are so much better, I am wondering if the stock battery was defective.

Probably way too late with this answer, but yes - at least one person here at work was on Froyo and was able to update to .5 yesterday around noon EST. I was on .3 and updated around the same time. So both builds are fully available out there.

I initiated the GB update at 0555 PT and it completed it's 3rd reboot at 0626 PT. I did not receive an OTA notice of availability but accessed via "check for updates". The V page still says "soon" regarding the OTA. Next step - SYKPE? Does anybody think this is a wise step - I want to communicate with the folks back home while i'm offshore for the next month.

Google Talk is a little less feature-rich on the Thunderbolt but is also a lot smaller (being part of the operating system). I'd set up a Google account at home and use that. As of the latest OTA (2.11.605.5), Google Talk works just fine with the front-facing camera.

However, if you're already using Skype, I tested that back in 2.11.605.3 (the last OTA) and it worked fine. I have no reason to believe that it wouldn't work fine under .5. It may be a good idea to load Skype anyway, just so you have a backup plan. Nothing sucks worse than fighting a software issue when you've got a young'un waiting to talk to Mommy or Daddy.

I'm assuming that wherever you are "offshore" you'll have access to a good WiFi Internet connection? Google Talk and Skype both work well over 3G/4G, but they do use a decent amount of data for video calls. If you're outside your normal coverage area, roaming/overseas data charges could kill you (plus, of course, the Thunderbolt is not a world phone, so if you go to, say, Europe, it'll only work with WiFi).
