Gboard issues

Im trying out Gboard to see if I like it better than Swiftkey which I've been using for years but I came across issues:
1)In Google search or Chrome nav bar or even when I was doing a search on Tapatalk, I don't get a predictive text bar like I do when I'm typing otherwise,see below
2)some of the changes I've made to settings don't seem to actually take effect, for example the long press duration and the keyboard size
3) also (and this is minor)can I reduce the number of long press options it gives me? I'm used to swiftkey's having only a few punctuation options when I long press the period button.

Yeah I've noticed this as well which is why I have a love/hate for gboard. I do switch back from swiftkey from time to time.

The only reason that is keeping me from using Gboard over SwiftKey is the predictive text. It does not work at all on any search sites. I have had it work off and on with Tapatalk.

Ok well if that's the case (not working in search) then that's a deal breaker
