Does anyone use Gboard keyboard? I have for a long time now, but recently, when I hit the microphone button to use the voice to text function, GBoard no longer makes a system sound to let you know that this function is working. When you hit SEND, it made another sound to let you know the voice to text was now off.

I have checked every permission, every sound function, everything I can think of, but no sound emitted. The stock Samsung keyboard functions properly using the voice to text function.

Uninstalling the GBoard allows the voice to text sound to function for a few times, then goes back silent again.

What am I missing?

I use the GBoard (my S9 plus) on occasions and have no sound issues when I tap the mic icon. Have you gone into settings....sounds and vibration....scroll down and tap on "volume"....and check to see if you have the media volume turned on.

Not all, apparently. Clear the cache partition and reboot. Open Settings, Notifications and post a screen shot of the gboard settings. It shouldn't be turning off by itself.

I was in the Google Play store this morning and was reading some of the reviews for the GBoard. Some people are having issues with the mic not beeping a sound when the mic is pressed. This seems to be with the latest update of GBoard in the Google Play store. Check out the "critical" reviews in the play store.

I have not updated mine yet and that might be why I am not having any issues with the mic.

Thanks for the heads up Mojave. Maybe I can find an older .apk file for Gboard. I'll probably just wait for another update. The stock keyboard isn't terrible. I just like Gboard better.

Edit: I did download a slightly older .apk file, and now Gboard is working fine. I'm not going to allow it to update until they get this figured out.

This what I am getting that kills the sound when you click the mic button.
That would seem to indicate that you do not have the permission set correctly. Use the search function to understand how to clear your cache partition, reboot and maintain the device. Good luck

Thanks. I just did what you suggested. Phone is rebooting.

I am starting to think this is all a result of the 2 Verizon updates the phone received this week.

Doing as you suggested MAY have fixed the issue at hand. Now when I go into Apps>Gboard>Permissions, I get a bunch of toggle items. I was just getting a Contacts toggle.

Time will tell.

Thanks for your help.

Edit: That worked for an hour, then back to no sound. I have emailed the Gboard developers. I have uninstalled Gboard. Stock keyboard it is from now on.
