G'bye T'Bolt - You've been good to me

It's time to say goodbye to my T'Bolt. It's been a good phone. It's done everything I've wanted it to do, especially after the initial birthing pains. They were long enough ago that I can't even remember them. Once it got up and running and learned the Android way, I couldn't have asked for anything more from the T'Bolt.

I really had no reason to leave my Thunderbolt and go to something else right now. It was doing everything I wanted it to do. However, I got the bug and now, a new phone is on its way in the mail . . . the Galaxy S3.

So, g'bye T'Bolt and hello SGS3 . . . and goodbye to everyone on the T'Bolt section of the board. Whether I've posted or not, I've found lots of great info over the past year or so. Y'all have been very helpful so, Thank You! It's time for me to more down the forum a little bit to the SGS3 pages.

Based on the sheer fact that I can turn the brightness down on my TBolt without having any visual artifacts, I disagree.


I also disagree because my eyes easily pick up the other artifacts made clear by Pentile tech, so even though it's "HD" (it really isn't) I still see the problems the display brings. And there's nothing worse than having problems with a screen. If your GPU is a tad slow, your games play slower. If your RAM is a bit on the low side, you can't multitask as much. If your CPU is lacking 2 extra cores, so what nothing on Android utilizes quad core mostly.

But your screen has glaring display issues? That affects EVERYTHING you do on that phone. And well, I see the issues Pentile creates way too easily to accept that for laying down premium dollar for what should be a "clear" upgrade. Sadly it isn't.


If you don't see the problems with Pentile of course you're going to say the screen on the GS3 is better than the Bolts. Contrast and color representation (mostly) are amazing. But why do I need to upgrade (downgrade in the case of the screen) when I can guarantee in another year or less a new phone will come out similar to the GS3, but with a SAMOLED Plus HD display? No reason.

That's my take on it at least. Just my 2 pennies.

I have to agree with DaRkL3AD3R as I've also always been able to see the artifacts in a Pentile screen. Thus, it's very difficult to look past and say the screen is better. It’s just one of those things that you have to evaluate based on your own eyesight.

I just boxed mine up and shipped it off to its new owner. Sold mine on eBay for a decent chunk of change. Covered most of the cost of my Galaxy SIII.

I am getting my s3 tomorrow and I did not see any problem with the screen mentioned in two previous posts. Maybe I need to use my phone with a magnifying glass or a microscope.

Ok Kronko, if you need a magnifying glass (or a microscope, your sarcasm is not appreciated here) to see the artifacts in the pictures on this page The Galaxy Nexus PenTile display: a reasoned take on the debate | RTT then maybe you're just ignorant to it. Good for you.

Unfortunately I'm not. My eyes pick up all the problems this horrible technology brought on, all too easy. RGB is the way screen tech was made to be, Pentile takes the whole concept and destroys it. And well, the translation doesn't go well.


The real reason Pentile even exists is so they can get away with their marketing bogus junk to fool people into thinking they're buying an HD display when really they're getting jipped of a significant percentage of pixels in a true RGB HD display.

But like I said, ignorance is bliss. And you certainly nailed the ignorant part, so enjoy it.
