Hi everyone!
My small gearfit 2 FINALLY shipped after being "in route" since the 22nd. I have 2 quick questions. 1) Can you use the gps to track a run without your phone on you? And 2) can you receive notifications from your phone if its not on you? (Assuming not...bluetooth correct?) Sorry..never owned a fitness watch before and was mainly curious about the gps.

Thanks!

1: Yes cause it has built in GPS
2: Not really it connects to bluetooth and if ur out of range of Bluetooth it will connect to WiFi but I'm not sure if it still communicates with the phone over WiFi or just uses it to load weather etc etc...but u definitely cant leave ur phone at home and still get notifications if that's what ur asking....It's not a true smart watch so it's still kinda tethered to ur phone for most features

Just a heads up, I absolutely LOVE my Gear FIt 2 and have worn it nearly every day since I got it last month. However, I've noticed a pretty large drain on my phone battery while using it. My Note 7 would be at about 69% at the end of the day before I got my Fit 2, and after I connected it I lose about 20% more battery.

Then I went and traded my Note under the recall for the temporary S7 edge, and the S7 edge had the same exact thing happen. It was great on battery until I connected it to my Fit 2 and now it loses about the same 20% extra that the Note did.

I really wanted to like this device, but the only good thing I can say about my Gear Fit 2 is that it can control Spotify.

I have been wearing it daily for the last 3 weeks and the step count for me is between 1,000 and 2,000 low as compared to my old FitBit and a standard pedometer (I average around 10,000 steps a day). I climb 10-20 flights of stairs a day and the Gear Fit 2 has only registered 3 flights in the last 2 weeks. I have replaced it twice at Best Buy with the same results.

I think this could probably be fixed with a software update, but I think Samsung has other things on their mind. For now, mine is sitting on my desk at home and I am back to FitBit.

I guess there is one other good thing I can say - it was worth the price I paid for it since it was free.

I've had the same issue with the floor counter. One day it will credit me with 4 flights of stairs, and other days 0. Even though I climb the same set of stairs multiple times every single day at work.

Does it at least offer a way to up the count for steps that are missing?

It is a great looking device, fits nicely on the wrist but it is not very accurate.
