Anyone know a way or an app to get a "things to do list" on the gear fit (not just the outstanding calendar appointments? i.e. a nagging list

You can download "Gear fit share" from the market., Then go to your To do list, select all and share via Geat fit share app. That list will then be on your fit.

The developer Do Minh Duc just released three new apps for the gear fit. They are in the play store but one of them is what you're looking for

How can I get to a spesific app from the "App Connect" when I double-tap on the home button on my Gear Fit?
Now I have to double-tap that gets me to the App Connect-folder and then press the preferred app (in my example: Launcher).
