Gear fit or 256GB microsd - Best Buy

Hey guys,

The promotion for the Gear fit or the 256GB micro sd card was until August 28th. I bought my phone on August 26th and another on the 28th. One was unlocked and the other was for AT&T.

Best Buy is refusing to honor the promotion because they keep saying the "unlocked version is not eligible" when in the terms, it doesn't say anything like that. For the AT&T phone, they're saying it's not eligible because I paid outright for both of the phones and say it has to be with a carrier and be making monthly payments.

I called Samsung about it and they said that's not right, that they should have given it to me when I bought both phones. I'm supposed to call Samsung today and let them know if Best Buy gave me the card or not. I have been back to that Best Buy so many times and they refuse to honor it no matter what Samsung says or even their own Best Buy customer service. Has anyone else had issues with Best Buy?

I think Best Buy is probably saying in order for them to give you the promotions they wanted you to buy a device on payment plan. I don't think they're until any obligation to give it to you outright if they say you must buy the device under installment or contract. I know you want to get the items asap but any chance you can just claim the promo thru Samsung site instead?

Nope. The terms say that whoever purchased through Best Buy must redeem through POS at the store and isn't eligible for Samsung's website. I went to a different Best Buy store last night actually. I talked to the manager just because I was curious and he said the other store should have honored the promotion for me and that I'm definitely eligible. Sadly, he couldn't do it though because he said the store I bought it from has to redeem it for me.

Man that sucks. I've gotten into the habit of buying my phone on installment to claim any offers and then just paying it off after it shows on my account to try to avoid. Unfortunately, some retailers will try to withhold promos based on purchase method. Sometimes they have it written that a certain method must be used and sometimes they don't. Good luck getting it sorted out.
