Gear S2 3G, AT&T, LG G4 Need Help.. :-/

So I took the plunge after researching everything and bought the Gear S2 3G version from AT&T today. I have an LG G4.

I'm usually pretty good with this stuff. But I'm hoping I'm missing something.

I've installed the Gear App and all of the recommended apps it tells you too and I'm only able to get phone calls on the watch.

I've checked to make sure that the notifications for the apps are checked. Messages, Hangouts, FB Messenger, Gmail, etc. But I get NO notifications on the watch. I've been using one of my kid's phones and their accounts to test it out with no luck. I even did a complete factory reset to the watch. Turned the phone and the watch on and off, etc.

I'm at a loss. :(

Any suggestions?

I, like you am pretty good at this stuff. I can't get any messages to the Gear S2 3G (unless Bluetooth is on, which negates the purpose of the watch) on my AT&T Galaxy Note 4, which is a compatible phone to the watch. Spoke with and tried several settings while talking with AT&T Technical support. No luck, nothing worked. My guess is that this is a network issue that will be resolved when Number Sync goes live next month.
As an aside, when I enable call forwarding on the watch (Bluetooth off) the call will forward after 5 rings on the phone when phone is on, and 1 ring when when is off.

I'm in the same boat. Pretty god with phones and technology in general. I can only get the calls/texts when BT is connected. Remote Connection wont connect at all.

I'm wondering how number sync will fix anything beyond text and calls.

I use Hangouts and FB messenger more than texting, honestly. If they never work, its pointless for me. I rarely get calls. :(

I wouldn't even care if this were any other wearable. I know that I wont get calls forwarded or sports updates on another watch. But simply because I'm supposed to on this one I want it to work. lol

Hum. This doesnt sound too promising. i want to get this watch, but maybe I should wait till numbersync is working then. I read somewhere that ATT won't have that working though till sometime after the new year!

Edit: Whoops, it was the LG Urbane 2 I was thinking of that wasn't supposed to get it till 2016. Who cares now that that thing is dead. Wonder when it will work for the Gear S2?

Wonder when it will work for the Gear S2?

Apparently (according to my friends at the local AT&T store) it was suppose to come out with the watch launch. But got delayed? Rumor is sometime next month.

Like I said tho, I don't see number sync fixing issues with say, FB messenger or Hangouts, Twitter, etc. since those aren't tied to your phone number. At least not for most folks.

I'm gonna try it with two of my other phones to see if I have any better luck. Tho, I really don't want to go backwards to my LG G2. My son is using my G3, and I'm DEF not going back to the Galaxy S5. I'm spoiled to my back buttons. :p

Re: Gear S2 3G, AT&T, LG G4 Need Help.. :-/

So, I tried my LG G2. Works perfectly as long as BT is on. But if I turn it off, nada.

Not even on Wifi. Am I missing the entire point? I mean, isn't WiFi access there in the event you aren't near the phone but still need to get your notifications?

BTW I forgot to mention that I spent an hour or more at the local AT&T store with them working on trying to get the watch to work with my G4. They even tried a different watch. No real luck. Just phone calls. And one email showed up.

Not having that issue of not getting calls forwarded, but texts and other messages I have noticed are sporadic. Using the AT&T network with my Note 5, I go into the calling settings and in the call forward and set them to forward to my Gear S2 number. That will take care of that issue with your calls. The problem I'm having is when am in remote and then comeback in bluetooth range with my phone it still doesn't switch back to bluetooth connection.

Thus using more battery with remote connection constantly being on.

I finally got it working, but I'm not even sure how. I just kept turning on settings on both the watch and the phone. I now get most notifications even without BT. But originally, even connected to BT it wasn't working at all beyond calls forwarded.

So I'll outline the settings on the watch and phone and explain what is working and what's not. :)

With BT on (with all the settings below set the same) everything now works as intended. But below I've turned BT off on the phone.

On the Watch:
Under Connections:
BT- On
Mobile Networks - Auto on/off
Mobile Data - On
Wi-Fi - On
Wi-Fi - Not Connected

On the Phone:
BT - OFF
Connection - On (Gear App)
Use Remote connection - Grayed out but off (Gear App)
Sync Wi-Fi profiles - Grayed out but off (Gear App)
Call Forwarding - On (Gear App)

What works?
Emails
SMS
Hangouts (as long as it's not an image)
FB Messenger (as long as it's not an image)
Notifications of missed calls but not the calls themselves.

Now, what I found was that even tho it said Remote Connection and Sync Wi-Fi profiles were grayed out and off, I think it was a glitch. I turned Connection off and back on, and when I did, they were no longer grayed out, and both on. Tried another call and wa-la. Worked.

Hope this helps! If I missed anything or if you have a question, just lmk!

Definitely has to do with "Use Remote connection" needing to be on (not grayed out). I just reset my S2 this morning, cause I could not get this to turn on. Once I did reset of S2, notifications work with Bluetooth off.
