I tried the ID card trick at one of those gas pump insert card readers and it worked! Love Samsung pay

So the gas pump allowed you to pay "after" you dispensed the gas? All of our gas pumps are prepay.

I couldn't get it to work with my S3 but I've just started using it at the pump via the phone. Next time around I'll try watch again.

What exactly is the ID card trick?

When you insert a ID card and take it out it activates the card reader and you quickly place your watch up to the card reader it sends the MST payment. I'm addicted to Samsung pay points so I never use a physical card at all anymore.

Haha yeah I googled it after I asked and saw what it was. Funnily enough I had to go out to get gas but the station I normally go to was closed so I went to a different one and they ended up having an NFC reader at the pump, so no need for the trick. I will keep it in mind for the next time I got to my regular station though.

No I paid before I pumped the gas, it just charged me the total after.

I was able to get it work, somewhat, months ago. The problem is, I got a notice from SP of $0.00 before I had pumped the gas. I guess I'll have to try again.

The same thing happened to me. It said 0 dollars and after I pumped the gas the total amount was on my debit card transaction though.

If you open up your wallet and put an id in to activate, at that point, just put in your credit card.

Yeah, it's always going to give a notice of 0 dollars because it doesn't know how much you're going to pump.

True, but your actual credit card can be skimmed and you also get no Samsung Pay reward points. I've made a few hundred dollars from Samsung Pay rewards so I plan to continue. I spent 10k of my 12k points to get $50 off my Gear Icon X 2018 last month, and I'm already back to 9700 from special promotions and such. So that's essentially $100 just in one month. So I would prefer my credit card information be safer and to earn some extra $$$, as well.

I do it for the reward points. I've made over 2k in cash and lots of free gear. I even just cashed in some points for a free pair of U flex Bluetooth headphones. I avoid using cards at all cost and haven't had to for a while now.

I don't have a Samsung phone so I don't think I get reward points. Did not think of that.
