Genuine Samsung SGS III HDMI Adapter - No Sound on TV

I bought a genuine Samsung SGS III HDMI Adapter (from Amazon), and when connected to my TV through the HDMI cable, I get no sound.

Everything is connected properly, but the sound doesn't work on the TV, or interestingly, on the phone either. Any ideas on this?

The volume is okay on the TV.

Might be a dumb question but did you plug in the power adapter?
Second, are you sure you purchased the 11 pin adapter?
I believe the other is a five pin...
They both are micro usb...

Yeah, power was in. I got the official SGS III adapter from Samsung.
