Gesture controls with Nova Launcher

Role of people using nova launcher on the Nexus 6 phones, do you just your controls and settings menu on Nova Launcher at all? If you do, what kind of district controls do you use? For example, I'm trying to set up the camera icon in my launcher if I swipe up on the camera icon to automatically launch the video camera but I can't seem to get it to work at all.

I'm not sure if this can be done. I've tried with the Google and the Moto camera and didn't work. You could try something like this. Long press on the camera icon, select edit, tap on the swipe up arrow, scroll to shortcuts, tap on activities, select the camera app and check with the different activities listed there.

Yes, yes, yes I've tried that however whenever I do it and select under camera activities video camera, and then swipe up on the camera icon in the launcher , it doesn't work just love the camera app mode. I'm ready to give up and just launched a video camera like I normally do. Its just really weird if you know what I mean.
