If Verizon/Moto hadn't abandoned my 2014 Moto X, I wouldn't need a new phone. But since they have, I'm in the market. One of the things I love most about my Moto is the gestures. I use wave to wake and chop for flashlight all the time, multiple times per day. Does the Nexus have sensor support where app developers/Google might be able to add those features in down the line? I'm not excited about what I've seen from the MXPE - battery/camera seem better than 2014 but not by enough. I'm pissed that everyone is going with huge phones. I figure if I have no option but to get a bigger phone, I might as well get one that has everything else I want. I would miss the moto features, but look forward to a good battery, great camera, fingerprint sensor, and fast updates.

The double-twist camera gesture was dropped prior to the final release of the phone. But there are a number of apps available that can assign a gesture like shaking the phone to execute a command. There are also apps that can detect air gestures, like the kind Samsung is known for.

One plus X has 5 inch screen and so does HTC one A9. Not sure of Verizon support though.

Both of those are lower spec phones, though.

What apps have you used that can enable gestures/air gestures?

Moto app related -- Anyone know of an app that replicates the Moto Driving features? Specifically, one that will announce incoming calls and enable taking them hands free. I've seen a few that handle SMS w/driving, often times requiring bluetooth detection to activate, but I can't find one that will announce calls activated by location movement detected. This feature and Moto Display (> Ambient Display IMO) are the two things I miss in the 6p. TIA.
