I was stuck between getting a Nexus 4 or a Nexus 7. I ultimately chose the Nexus 4 because it can do everything a tablet can plus more (use it as a phone). But something is still pulling me towards wanting a tablet. I'm not sure if I really have any use for a tablet though...any thoughts?

The size of a tablet offers advantages over a phone. Browsing, reading (especially e-books), gaming, and watching movies, are far more pleasant and comfortable on a tablet than a smartphone.

I understand all this. Just don't know if its worth the $200-$250 for a tablet. I don't do e-books or watch movies. I'm big on gaming.

When it comes to gaming, certain types of games are just easier to play on a larger tablet screen. First person shooters and games like Plants vs Zombies are just a better experience on a tablet. It's a complement to, as opposed to a duplication of, smartphone gaming.

For all but the most hardcore gamer, spending $250 on a tablet will probably be more useful long term than a dedicated portable system like a Nintendo 3DS or PS Vita.

Once you have a tab, you will strangely use the phone to make phone calls and texts!
Same happened with my iPhone 5 and iPad 3 ... there is no contest, use the tablet for all surfing and whatever else.
Use the phone just in emergencies...
