This ROM is awesome. Have it up and running on my Rezound right now. I am S-On and this still worked for me. I did sideload the boot.img file first, but I don't know if you have to do that.

- You will need to be unlocked (do not need root or S-Off though)
- You will need the Android SDK installed and updated and all USB drivers for Rezound
- You will need to install TWRP recovery (which itself is awesome...where were these intuitive touch-friendly recoveries when this was my main phone?)

Once you have that done, you plop the ROM on your SD card (I pushed this with the SDK myself, but as long as you get it in your root internal SDcard directory, it doesn't matter how) and install the ZIP from recovery.

Make sure you have the 4.2.2 Google Apps, as the ROM does not have them installed. Flash the GAPPS ZIP from recovery right after you flash the ROM (make sure you are only using GAPPS for 4.2.2...4.4 GAPPS will cause problems):

- Vanilla Android (uses Nova Launcher as the default launcher)
- No Sense! Sense has finally been purged forever from my Rezound.
- ROM has extra stuff, like the ability to use Virtual NAV buttons(!) and/or change the functions of the existing soft-buttons below the display. You can even make the NAV bar transparent a'la KitKat.

Everything appears to work fine. Camera is working but there is no photosphere (I tried sideloading the Vanilla camera...it works but will force close if you try to take a Photosphere). You can view existing photospheres in the gallery though. Bluetooth does work for me. Wifi works (mine is weak but that is probably because my back case is damaged...so my antenna might be messed up).

To be clear, the virtual buttons are completely optional. The regular "hardware" buttons are the default...you actually have to switch to the virtual ones via Settings to get them. Having owned 2 Nexus phones since I bought my Rezound, they have grown on me though, and I hate hardware buttons now.

EDIT: The blue line you see at the bottom in these shots is Team Battery Bar (Google play, free). It is not part of the ROM but something I installed after.

This ROM is actually old, although very good... There are also Android 4.3, 4.3.1, and KitKat based ROMs for the Rezound as well.

BTW, all the camera issues were resolved some time ago. Only KitKat has some camera issues at this time.

If you like this ROM, you should look into LiquidSmooth 2.37 which is 4.3 based, I am currently running it on my Rezound and its amazing.

Yeah I looked at those. But they all had problems (did not support bluetooth or camera or whatever) or they required S-Off. I liked this one because it is fully functional and easy.

Now that I have Nexi phones, I can appreciate just how much of a pain in the *** HTC phones are by comparison to root. I loved this phone, but it was the last decent HTC phone made IMO. And was not worth having to put up with Sense. I had a Galaxy Nexus that I also ROMed for my nephew, and was MUCH easier to do than this was.

Might do that. I have a friend who still uses his Rezound and could not find any good ROMs for it, so I did this post to help him out. I probably won't upgrade this again till there is a stable KitKat available.

When I last used this as my main phone, there were no decent Vanilla ROMs available. I am very very happy to finally be rid of Sense. Even if only on a backup phone.

JeffDenver, you convinced me to go ahead and follow through... not only did I finally root my phone, but I installed this ROM, and it looks great.

I had a quick question though - anytime I make a phone call, my screen turns off/black, and I have no way of getting to the actual screen itself (where it shows who I'm calling, the picture of the contact, button to go to speaker, etc), so I am stuck on that phone call indefinitely unless someone picks up and hangs up. I've tried pressing my power button, volume up/down, and a combination, but the screen stays off while the call is going.
Do you have any idea how to fix/troubleshoot that? Thanks!!

I don't have that issue. But it sounds like you might be covering up the proximity sensor with your finger or something. I'd maybe leave a message about it in the ROMs forum.

This seems common with many 4.1 and 4.2 based ROMs, go to the play store and search for Rezound Prox Sensor or something similar and recalibrate the proximity sensor, should take care of it for you.

Okay, I'll definitely try that out. Would it be the same if I just went to Menu --> System Settings --> Advanced --> Sensors --> Calibration, and changed my value to something higher?

You can, but there is no way to test it... find the app and you can change and test it in real time and then commit your values.

So I've had this ROM for a couple weeks, and it hasn't been working too well on my phone. It's been superrrr laggy/unresponsive, and it restarts totally randomly. If any of you have any advice on how to fix this, that'd be great... otherwise, I am on to a new ROM. Since I installed a 4.2.2 version of LiquidSmooth, does this mean I can only install 4.2.2 or higher ROMs from now on?

And to install a new ROM on my S-ON Rezound, I just want to double-check the steps: 1) Reboot into recovery and do a factory reset, 2) Wipe davlik-cache + cache, 3) Flash my ROM.zip file while still in recovery, 4) Reboot into hboot/bootloader and flash the boot.img file (extracted from the ROM.zip)

Sorry for bumping this thread - I didn't want to unnecessarily create a new thread with a basic question.

You can flash any ROM from ICS or higher (there are ways to do Gingerbread ROMs, but it is a more complicated process) just make sure to wipe thoroughly.

You steps to install a new ROM are very close, I would wipe more though, you should wipe/format system and android secure as well... If you are on TWRP you can use this script to properly wipe and format before installing a new ROM, just flash it like a ROM before you flash the ROM, except you don't need to wipe anything.

Remember when switching Android versions (4.0 to 4.2, 4.2 to 4.4, 4.4 to 4.0) you should wipe and format your internal storage as well.
