Get rid of big circle overlaying everything

Occasionally a big (green on my phone) solid-colored circle with an X inside appears at the bottom center of screen. It does nothing and it cannot be swiped away in any direction. It overlays ALL apps inlucluding keyboard and lock screen. What is it? How do I get rid of it?

Occasionally a big (green on my phone) solid-colored circle with an X inside appears at the bottom center of screen. It does nothing and it cannot be swiped away in any direction. It overlays ALL apps inlucluding keyboard and lock screen. What is it? How do I get rid of it?

Clear your recent apps one by one to see when it disappears. If it doesn't disappear then go and force stop your apps one by one until it disappears. Once you figure out which app is causing it you could navigate to it and check if there's any settings for you to adjust.

Will give that a go - Thanks much for the tip! Needed to use my phone, so rebooted it to clear the damned circle.
Beginning to seriously consider reverting to Android 9.

Welcome to Android Central! I don't recognize that as anything to do with Android 12. It may have more to do with some app you installed that's not playing well with Android 12.
