so my Tmo version and for some odd reason it won't work with Tmo Visual Voicemail.

I take the sim out, slap it in my Mate 9, visual voicemail works fine.

Tmo had me wipe the cache, reset, all that. They even wiped my voicemail. still wouldnt work.

T-Force stalled me out the first day, had me try stuff for hours, but on day 2 i complained and they gave me no hassle. shipping out a brand new device, should be here this week
 
on the Z2 it wont even activate the visual voicemail, just errors out everytime

I was having the same issue with my Moto Z on AT&T. Kept trying to set it up and got the error message every time. Then instead of trying the setup again I just opened the app and the voice mail was set up despite the error messages I was seeing.

on Tmo anytime I opened that app it would go right to the setup page and error, no input from me.
