Getting my first Samsung. Get the Note or get the Edge and wait for Note issues to fully resolve?

Am getting rid of my beloved HTC M8 (which has just slowed over time and the battery is simply too weak) and interested in getting either a 7 Edge or the Note.

Two questions: why would you get one over the other and,
Is it too early to get a Note or are the battery issues resolved?

(apologies to moderators; didn't know which section to put this in...Edge or Note...)

I wouldn't be worrying about the battery. That issue is being resolved as we speak. With the Note 7, there are mixed reports of lag, stutter, rebooting, weak signal and such. Just look at the threads that have been created The S7 doesn't seem to suffer these.

If you don't use the S pen, consider the S7. If you do intend to use the S pen, then peruse the threads in this forum and decide for yourself if you think the Note 7 will be right for you.

I got the Note 7 black. I now have a S7 Edge silver loaner as I wait for my replacement Note 7.

I like the Note 7 better, the updated OS is much better. I actually think the S7 Edge is faster than the Note 7 and has better battery, and I kinda got used to the size, it's a good phone actually, but I still prefer the Note 7. A Note is a Note.

That's a lot of money to spend on the possibility that they got this resolved! At the very least, I'd definitely wait 2 weeks to a month too see if these issues or new ones (re)appear. I love the Note series, but will be skipping this model all together...

Here's a suggestion. Just compare the S7/S7 edge forum to this forum. Scroll through the titles of all the threads to get a feel about the devices overall.

I did that myself and there are a lot more threads with serious issues with the Note 7 than the S7's.

I've owned both and I never did like the way the S7E felt, so much so that I had to put it in a case (I hate phone cases).
The N7 just felt soooo good in the hand, but I never used the s-pen. That being said honestly they are pretty much the same phone and it just depends on which you like best.

I'll never own another N7, because I think it has a bad reputation and the resale value will be crap and I try and sale all my old phones.
The S7E can be picked up refurbished for under $450, so that's a definite win for a flagship phone.

I did love that N7 while I had it.

Don't spend 850 bucks on one now. Samsung is going to have to slash prices on this thing as we approach the holiday season. Be patient.

Not to mention the refurbished units that are sure to flood the secondary market.
