Getting persistent download notifications for chrome downloads

[Android Central Question]

I am getting constant download notification sounds going off in chrome when I download large files and turn the screen off to let it finish downloading. It goes off every 30 seconds or so and the download hasn't even completed. It's annoying to hear it constantly going off. In the notification settings for the app I have "downloads" set to low priorty which is no sound or visible interruptions. What gives???
