Would it be worth it to grab the Evo 4G (OG) --- right now? I'm not too crazy over the 3D version..

Sure, but as soon as the 3d comes out I'm sure the og evo will be cheaper...maybe wait till then...of course there is the photon..

Buying off ebay/craigslist would be fine, but if you use your Sprint upgrade to get an EVO at this point, you are throwing money away. No reason to use your upgrade and pay roughly the same price that you can other places without using it.

The Evo would be a long term device for alot of users. Just becasue its already a year old and its sucessor is coming out, does not mean it is over for the OG Evo. It is still a better choice in my opinoin then the "entry" level android devices coming out. And since the new ones is coming, a price drop is almost an obvious fact, so it will be priced really well as well.

So, compare it to entry level android phones, Evo has a better screen, better build, better specs, better reputation. To me, its an obvious choice there.

If you really want the EVO then I would say get it. If it doesn't matter to you that it is a year old device then who are we to tell you otherwise?

Even if you don't care about the 3D features of the EVO 3D, why would you settle for a slower, dated, device? Seems dumb to me. You know you don't have to use 3D if you don't want to.

If you're allergic to 3D or something, I'd get the Nexus S over the Evo.

I just played with a Nexus S 4G at Best Buy and that is a nice phone. I think I would go with it over the EVO at this point. Screen is nice, feels lighter and better in the hand, latest builds of Android. I do love my EVO but if I were starting a new contract today I would pick the Nexus. If you have your heart set on the EVO I don't think you'll be disappointed but I would wait a few weeks for the inevitable price drop.

I'd have to disagree. I'd still get the Evo over the Nexus S. To me the Nexus feels cheap. Right now I'm running a Kingdom rom on my Evo so I'm also getting the benefits of Sense 3.0, which is really nice.

It's all a matter of preference.

You should get whatever phone you like. I am curious though, what don't you like about the 3D version, that you do like about the 4g?

I'm a little concerned about it's size, and battery life. Being that I haven't had a hands on, I guess thats irrelevant---moving on! I think that the 3D option is really a gimmick and not having a kickstand kind of sucks..

From what I've heard, the Evo can be OC'd pretty good.. I really want a great phone, great build, and wont fail me.. I travel at times, and using maps would be a definite. Dont wanna waste time loading locations and whatnot lol..

If you're buying at a store, you'd almost be an idiot not to get the 3D or Photon. You are talking about electronics that pretty much have a lifespan of less than a year. Yeah, they still work, but technology requirements and advancements mean it's no longer a top tier phone. The EVO has been fairly unique in it's ability to last as long as it has near the top. And, the money issue on top of that. The 3D is worth a lot more than the $50 difference on the tag if using a $150 upgarde/new customer discount.

5/20/11 I went to kiosk to get sprint upgrade, asked for Nexus One. The sales guy - owner of the kiosk, discouraged me, saying the Nexus One had antenna problems. I confirmed this on the internet. The antenna is covered by the hand in use, contributing to the problem. This would seem to be a hardware problem, not fixable by software.

Check this out. The most important thing about the phone is reception, next is battery life.

I have low regard for Samsung. They don't stand behind their product.
