Gift Cards

Yeah. I was even planning on using the $50 Play Credit to pick up a new Chromecast or maybe I would use it to buy one of those fancy cases on the Google Store.

Note: Devices only on the Google Store. Not anywhere else.

Fine print explicitly says you can't use it on the Google Store. They don't sell devices on Google Play anymore, correct?

Huh. I'm not sure why then I'm given the option to pay with my Google Play balance when I go to purchase something...

You sure they aren't referring to your Google wallet balance?

It irritates me that because I was a Google Play Subscriber (cancelled it back in June), I am ineligible for the three months free. I hate when they include extra perks that exclude people for idiotic reasons. As for the gift card, I wonder if that could be used towards the google play subscription? At least that could be like 5 months free?

The point of the free trial is to get you to try the service and (hopefully for them) decide you like it enough to buy it. Someone that has already tried it free (or even had a paid subscription already) and chosen to not continue the service has obviously made up their mind already.

Amazon Prime is the same way. I was signed in to my account while browsing the site, saw a huge banner advertising the free trial of Prime (even though I'd already gotten a month free a few years ago) and figured I'd go for the free trial again as I was ordering something. Next thing I know, my card was charged for a full subscription price that same day. Turns out, free trial was only for people that hadn't had it before.
