Gingerbread coming? And can you text? Also will I need to rebuy all my apps?

I just pulled the trigger on a tab... at 200 bucks I couldn't resist. Just wondering if Gingerbread will hit at some point? Any official word?

Also can you send and receive text messages?

I doubt 3.0 will hit it though.

Edit: Will I need to rebuy all my apps that I bought on my account with my Droid X? Or will they show up on my new device when I sign in under "my apps" in the market?

Rumors are flying about whether or not the tab will get Gingerbread. I don't think any official response has been made one way or another. I would be willing to bet that if you root, you will be able to get gingerbread at some point.

And yes, it can send text messages.

Your apps that you purchased should show up in the market under "My Apps" as long as you sign in with the same gmail account. I don't think the free ones will carry over. Those you will have to search for and download from the market. I have an EVO and a Tab, and I am signed in to both under the same gmail account.

I purchased several apps on my EVO, and they appeared in the market and I downloaded them to my tab. Works great.
