If you read the sticky about Gingerbread ... there's nothing much specifically about Gingerbread any more. Just a bunch of comments and plays on words. in fact, if you try to find anything at all about Gingerbread these days, it's like the search for Bigfoot -- no proof but someone, somewhere knows something - or not.

There are talks that Droid X2 will be released with 2.2 with a soon to follow 2.3 OTA. I would think that when the X2 gets the 2.3 OTA then the X will get it shortly there after.

I would sincerely hope not!

Let's take a look at something. Droid 1 released several months before Droid X. Droid 1 receives 2.2 roughly 1.5 months before Droid X even though Droid X was publicly showcased as a 2.2 phone (Adobe pre-launch event to name one example.)

By this timeline of events I would HOPE and EXPECT Droid X to receive 2.3 before any newly released 2.2 phone gets it. Again, I hope it does.
