Gingerbread update totally ruined X2

My wife's x2 got an OTA notification that the 2.3 update was available this morning. After downloading, installing (presumably) and rebooting, however, the phone was completely frozen -- touchscreen unresponsive, home button unresponsive, etc. The phone has rebooted itself about 10 times within the last hour but is still frozen after each reboot. Cannot unlock the phone and none of the hardware buttons do anything (holding the power button brings up the phone options menu but since the touchscreen is unresponsive, I can't select any of the options). Tried resetting by removing the battery but to no avail. Anybody else having similar issues? I've tried searching many other venues but I'm afraid the update is new enough that not many others have encountered similar issues.

have you tried doing a master reset?

Not surprising for a Moto GB update. It messed up 1/2 the DX's, but not usually this bad.

There is a way to do a "safe boot" on the DX. Not sure if there is one for the DX2, but it may be worth googling.

Otherwise call VZW. Level 2 tech support may help.

Contact motorola about this, Verizon will not be able to help yet. And this is a strange issue...

...there has been no ota, only the moto soak release, and the hack downloads of said soak test. My advice is to be patient.

I don't think so, VZW has confirmed an OTA, other people (not part of soak test) have been getting notifications to update...

but I could be wrong lol

Try contacting both, first VZW so they can get you a new phone if necessary then Moto to see whats up with that... Thus far you are the only one that has had problems with the update, maybe it was just a lemon?

I manually update my dx2 to gb and it has done the same exact thing. I have sbf'd back to at least 5 times and still no result. However I have notice when I the phone boot up all of the way and plug it to the pc usb a cdrom drive appears with a label of MOTOROLA with a CDFS of 8.23Mb it has four files. Motorola phones are really starting to piss me off and VZW tech support is about worthless as a boar with tits. :'(
