I am looking into ANDROID operating system. I am used to WEBOS.

Besides equipment is there any other reason to purchase one over the other?

And why not a standard DROID OS?

thanks

They are standard OS's, just different versions...like Windows 95, 97, XP, etc... It's also something that you don't really get to decide, it's about what's available on which device. Froyo is the current OS, available on most devices today (though not on all the older phones). The next OS to be released will be Gingerbread, out for for Google's starship Nexus, but still not released to the masses. Honeycomb is for tablets.

Eclair = OS 2.1
FroYo = OS 2.2
Gingerbread = OS 2.3

They aren't different Android systems, just OS updates. Older devices were running 2.1. Most new devices are coming out with 2.2, and some older devices are getting updated to 2.2. Very few devices have 2.3.

The only real different OS build is Honeycomb (3.0), which is made only for tablets.

Supposedly there is a 2.4 coming out as well which is kind of a hybrid 2.3/3.0. I keep hearing about this but I haven't heard anything that sounded remotely official so who the heck knows?
