Gingerbread - When - Why - etc.

Also, don't forget that Gingerbread has various bugfixes. For instance, the "SMS bug" is fixed. The one where you send a text and rarely it'll go to a completely different contact (sometimes resulting in some embarrassment).

It's a nice little upgrade ... Froyo was much bigger (Google cloud support, JIT, tethering OS integration, a new Launcher with shortcuts at the bottom for phone and browser) but Gingerbread adds some new exciting things, like the download manager, improved garbage collector (preventing brief app pauses, increasing responsiveness and smoothness), some JIT improvements, etc... Also something that we get to use on Froyo: The new keyboard! The Gingerbread keyboard has been improved quite a bit... I actually tend to like it more than HTC's keyboard (especially for its handling of voice-to-text). Although HTC's sense interface includes the little handles for text selection, Gingerbread is the first stock ROM to include that feature.

GB Coming Q2 2010?

So, droid-life says GB is coming out in Q2... Regardless when it comes out, we would receive this update over the air, right? And would we have to put all our loaded apps. Back on again and re-do our personalized things?

No.
