Gingerbreak and z4root not working

Had version VH on Optimus S and downgraded to VD and 2.2.2 successfully. Thought I was ready to root, but...

Problem is, Gingerbreak or z4root aren't working to root. What am I missing? Thanks!

Are you sure you have Debuging turned on? Give us some more info...what is it doing?

Debugging is turned on.

Gingerbreak gets to the step where it installs script and comes up with an ERROR. Could not extract assets!

z4root gets to the last step of root shell and then force closes.

I reboot... try again.. etc. etc. and it still doesn't work. This is my friend's Optimus S I'm attempting to root. I have an Optimus V through virgin mobile and rooted easily with Gingerbreak.

z4root won't work, are you using ADB or just the gingerbreak.apk?

Try it through ADB. It took a couple of times for it to take this last time, but I just rooted the other day using adb and the gingerbreak exploit.

just download this ziphttp://www.4shared.com/zip/MwKTjMkm/update.html
and place it into sdcard then turn off your phone (press home button >power>vulume) at the same time and scroll down to (wipe cache partition)press home button then scroll up to (apply sdcard:update.zip) and wait for it to do it things then its gonna ask you to reboot your phone adn u'll be find to try again to root or just keeit unrooted or try 4zroot it temporary root option...hope this help you ..peace out .
