Hey guys, I'm going to upgrade soon, if they ever release some of the new phones rumored, My wife will get my rooted Dinc. I was just wondering if there will be a problem changing it over to her phone # with the root in place, or if I will have to unroot to do the swap. Thanks for any help.

I didn't have any issues when I changed my rooted Dinc number over to an other number.

You should be able to do it in the store or over thee phone. It's just an ESN change. Should not be a problem at all.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but I gave my rooted Dinc to my wife a few months ago as well. When her phone is pushed the gingerbread update she should decline it right? The problem is, won't the update message keep popping up constantly? I guess I'm asking what is the correct fix here

If it's running a Sense rom, it more than likely will get the notification. If it's running AOSP, it more than likely won't get notified.

It's actually rooted but running the stock rom. So what do I need to do if I don't want to update to gingerbread, and just want the update prompt to go away? I remember with a past update there was a number you had to change in root explorer to fool the update into thinking the phone already had it.

If you want to turn off the update notifications, try this:

Use Root Explorer or another root compatible file explorer and rename /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip. to /system/etc/security/otacerts.zip.bak.

This should prevent the nag and you can rename it back if you want in the future.
