No clue what the 11.49gb of misc files is. I tried looking at the detail but everything I see adds up to maybe 100mb. I am showing hidden filed as well. Any idea what this could be and how I can find and possibly delete?

That's a combination of the OS, Samsung bloat and carrier bloat. Most of it cannot be deleted without rooting, but it would be pointless anyways it's in the OS partition. You won't gain any extra usable space.

That cant be otherwise people who get a 32gb phone would only have 12gb free out of the box. Also, wouldn't the OS be what called System Memory in my screenshot?

I know that I didnt have close to 11.49 on day 1...its been growing.

I went through all of my apps (including the bloat and crap that I disabled) and it is close to the 5.89GB that it says for apps when I go into the detail of used space.

Good move getting 64gb...i got the 32gb and sort wish i spent the extra $100 for the 64gb model.

Jeez, I have 15.37GB of Misc. Files. Didn't even notice until reading this thread.

Wonder what it was fresh out of the box?

After looking at your screen shot again I don't understand why your phone has system memory separated from miscellaneous files. On my 64GB unit, system memory is included as a part of miscellaneous files. I have 10.49GB of miscellaneous files and 10.48GB of that is shown as system memory. In theory they should be in the same partition. Before installing or downloading anything extra you should have in the neighborhood of 52-54GB depending on your carrier (I had 52.78GB available initially).

9.43 GB of System Files. 20MB of miscellaneous files. On AT&T. 50GB of free space.

You have nothing for Used Space? That's where all my pics, vids, music and applications are - 12.64gb for me.

When you click on miscellaneous files it will show you all the items that add up to that amount EXCEPT for the files in the android folder. The only reason I know this is because I have spotify and around 7 gb of music downloaded which does not show up in miscellaneous files but it does in the spotify folder in android. If you add up the data android and miscellaneous files are using then you should get that total value shown.

I am doing okay so far. Mainly photos and such. I can stream my stuff though so I don't use much space.. If I had limited data I'd definitely want 64 or higher to download stuff to the phone.

My misc is at 1.2. GB

But I stream all my music and podcasts over wireless. Don't download. Only got apps and pics (although I am now uploading that now to the cloud)

That's pretty high my Misc files is at 223Mb now. However, last week I cleared 3GB from the Cached Data which I hope and believe was only music from Play Music.

My miscellaneous files are only 6.33mb, sounds like something strange is going on, I have all my apps, about 20 albums and 6 films with 10gb free. Glad I went with 32gb. If I need more I have a 64gb micro usb stick.

I uninstalled Spotify and got the miscellaneous files down to one gigabyte. also noticed that the Samsung app is absolutely massive and seems redundant with Google text to speech, do you think its okay to uninstall this one?

Here's mine. A week or so ago my Misc Files was up to about 10 gigs (I think it's mostly from streaming Pandora and ESPN Radio) ... but used CC Cleaner to get rid of them. Now, I'm back up to about 1.2gb of Misc Files.

When i click it it shows all my apps. It's their data/cache i think. You'll find it in android/data in your files i guess...
