glalaxy s6 wont charge or open apps

Everything was working fine. I'm not exactly sure what happened but when I plugged my phone in to charge this morning, it told me it was unable to due to over heating. It won't open apps or charge. The phone is not warm. I have tried restarting it and nothing has changed. It charges a bit while it it turned off, but then again tells me it is unable to. I can only open my contacts. I can't even make calls. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a way to fix it?

Welcome to Android Central! Any chance there was any recent water exposure? That kind of problem seems to happen more often after water damage.

^^ this is a common issue after it has gotten wet. If it has not gotten wet for sure, and it's less than a year old, contact Samsung for a warranty claim.
