i noticed the droid to specs were dual band cdma, tri band umts, and quad band gsm. What i was wondering if the device supports 1700/2100 frequencies, I cant quite decipher what all the other lingo for it other then the actual frequencies

No, it supports AT&T 3G bands, not T-Mobile's AWS frequency range

I didn't even realize when I got the phone that it wouldn't work in europe. The wife and I travel often so this is pretty important. I didn't even stop to think a smartphone in the year 2010 would be without international support heh. I just hope the Global really is released on the 11th so I can switch out to it. My 30 day trial ends sometime around the 25th.

According to the Global spec page that was pulled down it does. So does the Droid Pro. Have a look for yourself: MOTODEV > Products > DROID PRO by Motorola, XT610

Well i'll be darned! It looks like the DP does cover North American 3G!

what i am interested in hearing, Is the Droid 2 going to be updated to be on par with the droid 2 global for the rest of the lifetime of both devices? the only difference is the radio. the original Droid 2 even has a slot for a sim card next to the sd card. The hardware to read a SIM is just missing. Do you guys think the Droid 2 is going to be treated as the same device when it comes to updates?

I ordered mine on Monday AM and it was in my hands at 12:30 Tuesday. Oh yes, I went for the extra 8 bucks for over night. Have not slept since I got it.

I will admit, I did the same as you, bought the Droid 2 in Sept, and returned it 10 days later. WARNING make sure the rep notes that you are within the 30 days. I got hit with the $350 but they are refunding it to me.

Well my 30 day return date limit is something like the 25th or so this month. I was hoping the Droid Global would be released today as the leaked info said but BestBuy still isn't listing it on their site. I know Verizon is, but I was hoping to do a simple swap through BestBuy. I guess I should call Verizon and see what options they offer. Maybe they'd be willing to send me a Global and send back the Droid 2? I dunno but I'd hope so heh.
