Gmail account not authenticating in the Email app since Android 4.1.2

Has anyone had trouble getting Gmail to authenticate in a third-party email app since updating to Android 4.1.2? I get my emails fine in the Gmail app, but in my third-party app where I'm getting emails from my other accounts, Gmail stopped coming in and recreating the account only give me the "Invalid user name or password" error message (I'm sure my password is correct). Is this a Gmail thing, or did a setting change?

It definitely sounds like you have not entered the correct information. In addition to name and password you also need the right ports and authentification requirements. I would suggest that you check with your email supplier for the correct information.
